Excellent article Trevor, I really enjoyed it. I've only been using Twitter for a little while, but I can already see the benefits it has over having to log into Facebook all the time.

I've found that a combination of Twitter, Facebook (with Twitter application which updates Facebook's status with Twitter messages), and my Wordpress blog (with a Twitter plugin) really helps me keep all these services connected, and allows me to utilize the best of each service to communicate my presence.

Thanks for doing this comparison, and keep up the good work!

Hey AJ, thanks for the insight.

Totally agree... as Facebook is right now... it's something that I really only check out probably once a day or once every other day to approve friend requests and look at the "updates" page.

Other than that... without real time 1 to many chat... it's just not quite where it needs to be.

But, as you mentioned... once the Facebook Chat launches... the game will change (again) and it will make Facebook a heck of a lot more powerful.

Anyhow, both Twitter and Facebook have their places... and both are pretty darn powerful social media tools.

Thanks again!

Trevor,

I agree with your point that as of now Twitter has an edge when it comes to "bonding." As of right now though, I think Twitter is being overrated and Facebook underrated. I think people may be underestimating what Facebook could do with the soon to be launched "Facebook Chat."
