Best blog post I’ve read in a long time written by Mark Cuban.
One thing as an entrepreneur that really irks me is people who think that money and having lots of money is evil and greedy.
In fact, its as far opposite of that as it can be.
To me (and Mark backs this is way better than I could say it), its actually greedy and evil to not work your hardest to share as much value as you can to others, to not build a business that employs people – makes a TON of money – invests that money back into the community – pays a TON in taxes (and so on).
Yes, the pursuit of money as the end goal and hoarding that money for yourself at the expense of others is evil and greedy.
But, what if you have a business idea inside of you that would truly…
- … change peoples lives
- … make people laugh
- … inspire people
- … help people have better lives
- … help people live longer
- … help more people be educated
- … help people live more comfortable lives
- … help more people be rich themselves
Why would you hold that back and not bust your ass and get as rich as you can building business that does that for other people? Then, doing good with that money and in turn helping even more people???
READ Mark Cubans article… awesome stuff
Now, get your idea out there… help a ton of people… get rich as heck… and help a ton more people.
Okay, I’m not fond of heights.
I’m the guy who doesn’t really like to get on my roof to hang up the Christmas lights.
But, last Saturday I jumped out of an airplane at 18,000 feet (a normal skydive is from 13,500 feet)… and LOVED every second of it
I’ll write a more detailed post and post the video of the skydive here soon… but I wanted to post a quick pic here now and thank everyone who donated and helped us raise over $100,000 for Opportunity International.
Basically, I jumped out of an airplane to take a risk and to show my commitemnt to entrepreneurship along with 26 other entrepreneurs (guys and gals from just starting out to CEO’s of public companies) and what it can do to bring people and communities out of poverty.
So, what risks have you taken recently? If you haven’t taken any… get your ass in gear and work that “risk muscle” a bit this month
Keep your eye out for a more in-depth post next week w/ the video… its pretty damn awesome
Have a great weekend! And if you love entrepreneurship and want to help us create new entrepreneurs in Tanzania head on over to the page I just set up that explains it… and being blunt… asks you to whip your wallet out and help push forward the cause.
PS- Oh ya, I’ll be adding a lot to my blog from now on. There’s a lot of really exciting things going on in my businesses, my life, and I’ve committed to ticking off 1 thing from my life list a month the entire year of 2011… and I’ll document it every step of the way on here. So, subscribe to my email list to the right with that cheesy opt in box that I haven’t had time to have my web guy pretty up ———–>>>>>
